Inside, light-filled spaces and and outside in our landscape children extend discovery through hands-on literacy, math, art, and science experiences. Weekly Journey Days and neighborhood walks deepen curiosity, connection, and a sense of belonging—creating a truly one-of-a-kind, Outside-In learning experience.

“Co-oping frequency” is how often the family works in the classroom. Monthly tuition is tiered to match co-oping frequency.
Through co-oping, families give their time and care to support each other’s children, educators, and the life of the school. Participation is structured to meet both family capacity and community need.
Co-oping reflects our belief that strong schools are built through shared giving. Participation levels are designed to support the classroom, the educators, and the children at the center of our work.
Family Involvement at The Cooperative School
The Cooperative School’s progressive, nature-based approach rests on two pillars: highly trained, creative educators and engaged parents who contribute to the classroom and the life of the school.
Our teaching staff includes a lead teacher for the Morning Mixed-Age class, a lead teacher for the Afternoon Prekindergarten, and a second teacher who supports both programs. All of our teachers bring years of experience, advanced degrees, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
Families are active partners in our community. Parents must serve either on the Board of Directors or a committee, and take turns working in their child’s classroom to support teachers and children. This involvement strengthens connections, deepens understanding of the curriculum, and helps keep tuition affordable for all families. Flexible scheduling ensures that co-oping is accessible for working and single parents alike, making it a meaningful way to participate, grow, and build community together.
Summer Camp Program (Tink)
Tinkering at the Cooperative School, known as Tink, is scheduled for five week-long sessions in the Summer. It does not require co-oping. Tink is designed for elementary school-age children, current kindergarteners through 5th grade.
